Very interesting article in BusinessWeek Feb 6, 2006 edition on a Silicon Shortage. The demand for Silicon is skyrocketing for solar photovoltaics and is expected to continue. The demand for silicon has also been high among semiconductors and has had steady growth. The solar industry has been growing at 30% per year for the last six years. This is great if you happen to a supplier, the prices have more than doubled in the past year.
