Fortune followed up on a few of the Dot-com IPO Survivors in its July 24, 2006 edition. Here are some interesting facts:
Company – Stock All Time High – Current Price – Market Cap – Notes
- drugstore.com – $68 – $3 – $280 million – still not profitable, but getting close
- Internet Capital Group – $4000 – $9 – $350 million – Once thought to be the next GE, their portfolio is now 21 companies from a one time high of 80
- TheStreet.com – $60 – $13 – $350 milllion – struggling but surviving on subscriptions and ads
- Ariba – $1013 – $8 – $600 million – survived because of acquisitions and a consulting arm
- 1-800-Flowers.com – $21 – $6 – $390 million – Survived because of its phone-order side of business and now offers garden products, toys and even food.
It is amazing to see some of these stock prices and then compare it to thier current price. My how internet companies have come a long way from the Dot-com IPO Survivors!
