I have been reading lately on forming partnerships, and here are Eight Partnership Tips I have read from others or experienced myself:
- Be a flexible partner - You have to accept their decisions even if you would choose something different
- Be an open partner - You have to be open if you expect your partners to be open, this will also save time from getting to the heart of working together
- Be an adaptive partner - With partnerships, you are sometimes dealing
with 2 environments that think and act differently. Be willing to
adapt so that both your needs and thiers are met - Be a real partner - Don’t fake your interest in your partners concerns
- Be a fair partner - Remember that partnerships are formed so that both parties benefit
- Be a giving partner - When it comes down to the bottom line, don’t be greedy. Partnerships should be defined for both parties to benefit
- Be a responsible partner - Do what you say you will do and follow through, one successful partnership will lead to others
- Be an innovative partner - Put resources together, specifically personnel that will get an opportunity to work with others on a united goal
As I have dealt with partnerships, these are some of the things I think are important, and you never know who will become a partner. Beware, there are a lot of “wolves in sheep’s clothing” out there, you can usually spot them because they do not have a lot of “partnerships” or endorsements.
